Edinburgh to Glasgow Expansion Pack

This Expansion Pack will be a significant new add-on for RailWorks 2. Featuring the 47 mile route from Edinburgh Waverley to Glasgow Queen Street via Falkirk High, the route includes detailed representations of all stations along the line. These include Edinburgh Waverley, Haymarket, Linlithgow, Polmont, Falkirk High, Croy, Lenzie, Bishopbriggs and Glasgow Queen Street.

The Class 170, also available separately from RailSimulator.com for RailWorks 2, includes authentic liveries and accurately-recreated controls and handles this busy line with ease.

We developed the route to focus on the 'driver's eye' view similar to a commercial training simulator, with stations and nearby features modelled in high detail and distant features modelled in simpler form to keep the performance smooth and usable on a wider range of desktop PC's. But that certainly doesn't mean that the route is lacking in detail – far from it! As a result of careful research, the route includes detailed and accurate signalling closely based on the real line.

All signals have been accurately positioned and have also been designated with the correct signalling area codes and signal numbers. The route features a mixture of modern LED signal heads and traditional filament-type heads, so we have provided an additional range of signal assets based on those developed for our previous GARL (Glasgow Airport Rail Link) project (click below for more details). Each route in and out of Glasgow and Edinburgh displays the correct Feather and Theatre indicators for routing displays with many potential options. As Edinburgh Waverley was recently re-signalled we developed new two-digit Theatre Indicators to display arrival platform numbers and main aspect signals with separately ground located Theatre Indicators. Our goal for this project was to re-create the same high quality driver experience developed for GARL only this time on a larger and more complex network. The Edinburgh – Glasgow Expansion Pack is available from 25th March 2011.
